Who We Are
The media training company Callingham and Edwards Limited was formed in 1984 to cater for the growing number of business people who recognised the power of the media and wanted to equip themselves with the skills to use their media appearances as a positive and effective opportunity to promote themselves and their organisations.
During the past 25 years Brian Edwards and Judy Callingham have trained hundreds of business people, politicians, sports men and women and spokespeople from all sectors of society.
Brian is one of New Zealand’s most respected broadcasters and writers. His career spans every branch of the media – columnist, author, radio and television interviewer, media commentator and trainer. He’s the only broadcaster in the world to have solved a major industrial dispute on television; he’s the guy who first started asking Kiwi politicians sticky questions; he’s the chap who invented Fair Go; he’s been media advisor to four New Zealand Prime Ministers and to hundreds of top people in the public and private sectors.
If it’s anything to do with broadcasting, Judy Callingham has done it – weathercaster, newsreader, interviewer, announcer, current affairs reporter, documentary maker. She’s also a former journalism tutor and an award-winning television dramatist, her on-screen credits ranging from Gloss to Shortland Street. A Fellow of Trinity College of Music, London, in the Theory and Practice of Speech and an Applied Linguistics major, Judy’s a whizz at banishing nerves, fixing poor diction and generally turning flat, boring speakers into Kiwi Obamas. She has recently completed an Honours degree in Politics at the University of Auckland.
